Data leaking is one of those weird things for me. On one hand, it almost forces the government to be as transparent as it promises itself to be...because if not for people like Snowden, Manning, etc...the entire government would get away with shady and illegal crap without any opposition at all. We as a country hate whistleblowing, be it Wells Fargo, the Army, or even the NSA. So we punish legal whistleblowing as harshly as illegal whistleblowing.

That said, these people still did illegal things...and in exchange for the wealth of data they provide, their entire lives get ruined...Which of course, is the cost of doing illegal business, even in the name of justice.

/Rant over.

Edit to clarify: I’m not comparing this new guy to other data leakers, just a general thought. :)

Well, it seems as if Harold “Hal” Thomas Martin III might have had these documents from before Snowden released his information. The FBI is still working with Martin to figure out what his intent was, but they don’t think it was political. I’m wondering of he was trying to pull a Snowden, to sell our espionage tools to the foreign governments we used them on, but when Snowden released his information, Martin realized everything he took was a waste since Snowden just gave it all up.

Ouch...now that would suck. I wonder what his motive was in it? I also wonder how many years would Snowden get if he came back to the US? Manning got 35 years for doing much less than Snowden (albeit still treason in the court’s eyes). I could only imagine what he’d get. lol

Oh, Glen Burnout, how I miss thee.

You know, he’s about the right age to have been in Heavy Metal Parking Lot...
